California Republican Party Convention Recap, News Articles Pretty Much Sum Up What Happened. (Hint: Lord of the Flies)

Yes, my favorite Lance Corporal on the dope rhyme.

Yep – let that post sink in, it is like I wrote nothing two day ago. This is the lack of self awareness or situational awareness I am referring to in the opposition to the CAGOP establishment. That said, two media outlets got it.

California Republicans Love Diversity – when it’s on their terms. Joe Garafoli is one of the fairest, if not the fairest writer at the SF Chron.

The article is paywalled, but I am lifting some quotes out of it because they are important and in a newspaper widely read by non-republicans.

One of Rankin’s supporters, Celeste Greig, a Los Angeles delegate who is credited with popularizing the conservative world epithet “RINO” (Republican in Name Only), lauded Rankin as “grassroots. She never, ever supported affirmative action. She was a supporter of President Trump since Day One.”

Celeste got attacked repeatedly by the opposition people, despite being a former President of CRA.

Assembly Member Carl DeMaio, R-San Diego, indignantly said questioning whether Rankin’s race was a factor in her ascension was a “bizarre thing” to consider. “I don’t think that there’s any way that you can possibly defend framing your question that way. I think that is completely biased and completely illegitimate,” DeMaio said.

OH NO! Is Carl DeMaio a RIIIIINO Now?

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a candidate for governor who supported Rankin, said he was “actually embarrassed for humans” because “there are people (at the convention privately) saying she’s only up for the chair because of DEI. It’s unfortunate that DEI even has to come up because I’m only talking about merit (in supporting her). I couldn’t care less that she’s female. I couldn’t care less that she’s African American. It’s irrelevant to me,” Bianco said.

Bianco is already being burned at the stake by the opposition crew despite him publicly telling Newsolini to go to hell during Covid.

Note: Lance Corporal Schaupp, featured in the facebook capture openly calls Rankin a DEI candidate and he also vociferously opposed Tamika Hamilton when she ran for Congress in his area. He is a leader in the opposition losing his latest race for North Coast Vice Chair 34-27 to the Father of a high-ranking Trump appointee.

The quotes in the article shows you that the whole episode was like Lord of the Flies, simply a fight for control with little moral inhibition on what they did to gain control. Ideology was shoved down the balance sheet and only used as a cudgel.

You know, Rankin (who is raising her Grandson after convincing her daughter to choose life) is Pro Choice – according to these folks. Don’t let facts get in the way of a power trip.

CalMatters got in to the psychology and their article reflects the weekend they spent at the convention. While the media can’t help their Trump obsession, the article had several jewels and almost sounds like they read RightOnDaily.

Read and Re-Read this quote:

She ran as a pragmatist against former state Sen. Mike Morrell, who was backed by hardline conservative party activists. Rankin boasts her own longtime conservative credentials, backing Trump since 2015, and Morrell acknowledged having little difference from her ideologically. But hardliners, frustrated with how long it’ll take to flip a blue state, have accused the party establishment of not spending enough on long-shot contenders.

So – even their candidate admits Corrin Rankin is a Conservative and then the gem, demands to spend money in D+40 districts? Is that the reason they went on a statewide rampage?

Then I back up to the gem at the beginning of the CalMatters Article:

After flipping three seats in the state Legislature last fall and increasing President Donald Trump’s vote share in nearly every county, California Republicans are seeking to capitalize on the momentum this year as they try to win back congressional seats and claw their way out of superminority status in the state capital.

Jubilant off their November gains, their next to-dos are clear but not undaunting:

  • Seize the moment.

  • Don’t blow it.

So the way the opposition started the 2025-2026 election season was to have seizures and blow yet another chance to have real influence in the Party. More on that in the next installment.

Come on in, the water’s fine…

  1. Greer is great. What is his kid doing in the administration?

  2. Mike Greer’s son, Jamison Greer, is President Trump’s US Trade Representative.

  3. The E-1 Yard Bird needs to stop flapping his pie hole and wake up to the reality that he and his followers have a perfect track record of getting their butts kicked by the “Establishment”.

  4. I have a question ………Aaron posted this:

“Morrell acknowledged having little difference from her ideologically”

Then, why was Mike Morrell running at all? WHY, wasn’t HE schooled/informed/suggested to/encouraged to run for a School Board; a Water District? WTF was he doing running, if there was NO Difference between the candidates??

Really? Do you know how stupid that sounds??? wow……unbelievable. DEI?? Opposition used DEI as an excuse? Do you realize how stupid THAT sounds??? White Man vs Black Woman….yea, exactly. A little Racist, don’t you think?? That’s EXACTLY how you people sound, racist……if they’re BOTH similar, than WHY use the DEI argument? All you DID, was prove YOU were the Racists, and SHE was the Victim of it. Take a bow, supposedly-smarter-than-me types. You should have never broached that topic.

Ah, now the supporters FLOCK to the queen bee……….of COURSE they’ll court her azz, they need funding AND the GOP ticket for their campaigns. Hmmmm, so the “Rankin File” video’s were all a lie? Those interviews were fabricated?? Welllllll, someone should SUE, no???? Unless they WERE real…………………hmmmmmmmm. Interesting.

The dust has barely settled, and everyone has their feelings on HIGH, but time will tell, as in all things. Mr. Charlie states at the convention, she got a lack-luster applause? ooookay. Sounds different than what’s being reported here. Maybe, the Blogger was present? I know Mr. Charlie was….I met him there. Met Leo Zacky there too…..and Mr. Deluz. Interesting…….hmmmmmmmmmmm. “Privately”, it was said a LOT of people felt the tables got stacked, Central Committee meetings were bluffed/guiled or fabricated to ensure, the passage of Ms. Rankin. hmmmmmmmm…..were THEY lying??? Or is SHE lying?

    Their Truth………..your truth……………GOD’s Truth.

Fact is, she won, election is over with.
Interesting. They said the same thing about Trump for 2020. Biden won. Trump lost, get past it.

Well folks, Mr. Morell, given what is being said here, SHOULD have run for a School Board, and kept out of the fray. PEOPLE Should have schooled him, to doing that. WHY would a former Senator, with near similar qualities as Ms. Rankin, want to run against her, if the Established folks are so awesome and great and well informed?? Unless this was a ‘RACE’ issue……..hmmmmmmm….
    Interesting.

We’ll see in a few weeks, or months, perhaps days……but we WILL see………..

  5. Leo – stay tuned. Excellent questions

  6. any TRUTH to THIS???:

Eight years ago, San Francisco Unified passed a Proposition 39 bond measure that included $5 million for workforce housing.

Seven years ago, Jefferson Union High School (San Mateo County) passed a Prop 39 bond measure of $34 million (that’s $75 million in taxes) exclusively for workforce housing. It’s already been built and rented. But try getting any public records about who lives there and how much the school district is dumping into its general fund (or paying out to its ‘friends’).

In the intervening years, dozens of school districts have passed Prop 39 bond measures that include sky’s-the-limit amounts (no one knows how much) allocated for workforce housing.

We know that Los Angeles Unified’s privately financed bonds (circa 2010) to build workforce housing for teachers ended up renting to custodians and cafeteria workers. Why? Teachers make too much money to qualify for the subsidized rents.

So all of a sudden, Coupal and his alter-ego HJTA come out with a pathetically weak opinion piece about it.

And all his highness has to say about it is “Schools should focus on education and eschew expanding their bureaucratic turf into housing.” Wow! Eschew. Bet he learned that word in law school.

    Mission creep inevitably bites taxpayers

Where has he been all these years? Protecting Prop 13? Complaining about loopholes?

Under Coupal’s watch, tax payers are on the hook for hundreds of millions in bond principal and interest payments going to workforce housing while the school districts establish a revenue stream from renting out below market rate apartments.

Prop 39 limits bond proceeds expenditures for “school facilities … and not for any other purpose.” What are considered school facilities? Go ahead. Pose that question to your favorite AI.

It is a felony to spend public moneys, including bond proceeds, for a purpose not authorized by law.

Where are the law suits from Coupal? Where are the criminal charges?

Don’t hold your breath. The only thing Coupal protects is his piggy bank. Oink!

    Maybe Coupal should eschew whining.

  7. LMAO on this one….and even Mr. Ponytail too-Nothing surprises me on that guy…(Maybe he as a used car salesman in a prior life?). Ya know 3 years ago the conservatives respected him—not no more. He was even doing the ‘High Five’ with Mat Rexroad (as pointed out by a County Chair at a post convention meeting).

I know there is good in Aaron, but he has ‘Turned To The Dark Side’…In 23 months we do it again Episode 4 “A New Hope”. And Yes even I spoke with Celeste…’Dark Side’. Was rather shocked on that one.

  8. Oh and BTW Aaron, I hope you enjoy all the new RINO readers coming to your blog. Must be nice to be popular ehy?

And the quite tail-tail sign of who Rankin really is as very clear when Peter Kuo, a guy loved by all, told me Saturday evening that Rankin has refused to speak or even look at him since he defeated her for Vice Chair in 2019. I didn’t know Peter in 2019, and was also defeated by him, but found Peter to be a great guy and now consider him to be a good friend. Shame when people hold grudges like that….Says everything you need to know about Rankin’s real personality. (and lack of leadership skills)

In all openness…I choose not to speak to Rankin (Its a bad habit I have…I simply do not speak to people who I no longer respect)

  9. @E-1 Yard Bird:

There is NO hope for you and your ilk.

  10. Pat, from you I will take that as a compliment…. Oh my gosh the fun we are having!!!

  11. What I still want to know is who got to Aaron and took him to the ‘Dark Side’..That guys use to be a Jedi! Dang…LOL

  12. @E-1Yard Bird:

Our intrepid blogger is a Raider’s fan, he’s always been on the dark side.

  13. Pat, Mark Davis is an old chum on mine from my Chico State days. Raiders are not the dark side. (Dang I even dated on of the cheerleaders for a while…lol)

Leo. At a post-convention meeting it was noted by many that the election applause of Rankin was the most underwhelming they had ever seen. Most delegates stayed in their seats and if they clapped it was only to be polite. A number of us notice it.

And a number of us noticed Mr Ponytail high fiving Matt Rexroad. Rexroad (Yolo Delegate appointed by Tom Lacky) is a consultant that does/or has done a lot of business with the CRP. But he has been Personna Non Grata with the Yolo Committee for over a decade when his firm used the old Yolo Committee to launder money for a candidate to get around donation limits and got caught. Yolo got hit with a $5K fine from the FPPC and had a $6K legal bill. His firm donated $10K to Yolo GOP go make it go away. (I still remember Rexroad’s photo featured in the Sac Bee, after the fact, where he claimed he had nothing to do with it). Could tell you more, but pointless now. We will all battle again in 2027. Ya know, some of us know what is really going on in the CRP.

OH and both Rexroad and Mr Ponytail are consultants…but Ponytail is small potatoes compared to Rexroad. And on Rexroad…even I got questioned by FPPC agents in Sacramento about my former association with Rexroad, in the 2008 Assembly Campaign and what I knew about the money laundering with the other candidate and the Yolo Committee…I was honest with them and told them all I knew, which was not much when interviewed. But my campaign books from the 2008 campaign got audited…and the only issue they found was my ranch could not donate $250 in campaign stakes as a donation in kind….but luckily, I had the good sense in 2008 to disassociated with Rexroad and a second consultant he wanted me to use….Thank God!)

  14. @E-1 Yard Bird:

Doesn’t the state mental hospital you and Leo reside in have social entertainment classes or programs ?

Seriously, I bet you two clowns make a wicked lanyard.

  15. Just like the liberals…when they can’t win a conservation based on merit…they resort to personal attacks. Just Call me Bozo…Fine with me. I know the deal and what is really going on … But let it play out now.

Going to be interesting with the County Chairman’s Assocation, since the first vote for chair was a tie…but 4 reorganized county chairs got stripped of both position and delegates by the Proxy and Credentials Committee and it was forced to reinstate one (Marin) late Friday afternoon. That one vote along would have caused the Yuba Chair to win the Chair of Chairs election and not Dennis of San Franciso. Oh and the Exoffico on the Sac Committee had to be reinstated by the P&C committee also. Her vote would have all allow the conservative candidate for the Sac County chair to win…and even more delegates stolen/denied.

If you think this is over….Guess Again!
